What's Holding You Back?

Can you imagine the best singer or artist stuck in a basement? The whole world wouldn't know about their skills and talents. Do you want to be one of them? I am sure no one will want to be a person like them. But still, people are stuck inside an imaginary basement and not trying or showing themselves to the world. Here are some of the reasons I think why people are holding back and how to overcome those fears that stop you from achieving your goals and dreams.
Being afraid that you are not good enough:
This is something that comes to the mind of every beginner. Even I used to think, "Are my works good enough to show to the world?" If this thought comes to your mind, imagine yourself as the best singer stuck inside a basement. Don't you want the world to see your beautiful and creative works? Here is a success story to make you inspired:
When Justin Bieber was a kid, he learned to sing from scratch. He was often embarrassed by others hearing him. When he was twelve, he sang for the first time in public in a competition. Though he didn't win at first place, his mother made a video of him singing in that competition and uploaded it in YouTube. The video got millions of views and hits. Today, he is one of the best pop artists in the world.
Don't be afraid of revealing yourself to the world. Don't think about what others will think. It is natural to fail at first. But, it is good. Only then you will know the real taste of your achievement. But be careful not to show off yourself in a boastful manner.
"Do not allow people to dim your shine because they are blinded. Tell them to put some sunglasses on."
-Lady Gaga
Trying to be perfect:
As I mentioned before, it does not matter how good enough you are as long as you show yourself to others. But, if a person starts to reveal themself to the world, they will start to overthink about being perfect in their work.
Though this is natural, one should not overthink about being perfect. Some people think that it is better not to try anything rather than trying and failing or not being perfect. Stop this thought and start to do what you like and what will help you to achieve your goal, rather than sitting in a corner doing nothing.
"The taste of success is worthy; only when at least one flavor of failure added in it."
-Ankit Sahay
Feeling that it is too late to start:
Everyone has their dreams and goals in life. But people in their 40s think that it is too late to start. Lang Lang found his passion when he was just two years old. There are some people like Lang Lang. But some people either have many passions and get confused about which one to make their life goal or have no dreams or passions and get confused about what to do in their life.
Hector Garcia and Francesc Miralles share their life story in the book Ikigai for Teens and how they struggled to find their ikigai. Hector Garcia wanted to become a video game programmer, accepted a research scholarship at CERN and continued to do research in a laboratory in Japan, again came back to be a video game programmer, got rejected by Nintendo, and many other things happened in his life until he became an author.
It does not matter what your age is. Life is too short to wait for you. So start today, no matter your age.
"Life is too short. Make the most at it. You don't know when your last day is. Live the way you want to live."

Lack of courage:
Successful people be brave and overcome anything that comes their way. Shiv Khera, in the book You Can Win, says, "Courage is not the absence of fear but overcoming of fear." Here is a stanza from the song What Brave Engines Do from a very famous cartoon:
"Being brave isn't being fast
Or the big jumps that you made
It's all about the good you do
And how much heart you gave
And fearless doesn't mean a thing
You gotta be scared to be brave!"
There are a lot of things that hold you back. But tackling these will help you achieve a lot easier. Always remembers, never let anyone or anything stop you from achieving.
"Maybe the past is like an anchor holding us back. Maybe you have to let go of who you were to become who you will be."
Keep writing. Pen down your notion, they say!
